UGC has issued a new guideline on Friday. According to this, all courses can be done in higher education institutes of the country. Also, institutes of single domain like management, education, law, engineering institutes will be able to give degrees together. Students will have the freedom to enter, leave the course multiple times and go on to study the same course over and over again.

Students will be able to complete the course through multiple modes i.e. classroom face-to-face studies as well as distance learning and online. Not only this, you will also be able to do dual courses, that is, you will be able to do two valid courses simultaneously. Orientation and counseling will be arranged for the students in every institute. In the guidelines, the UGC has asked all the state governments and universities to make their own rules and policies to implement the new system. If the institutes want, they will be able to implement it from the session 2022-23 itself.

According to UGC Chairman M. Jagdish Kumar, the new guideline will be good for career.

Study in all three modes
A student can go to college and study in a face-to-face classroom. If you cannot go to college, you can take online courses or choose distance learning. The student will also get the facility to choose any one of the three modes in different semesters.

What else in the guideline?

  • Under any one management, there will be departments of Language, Literature, Music, Philosophy, Indology, Art, Dance, Theatre, Education, Mathematics, Statistics, Pure and Applied Science, Sociology, Economics, Sports, Translation and Interpretation.
  • Universities and higher education institutions offering only management, only law, only engineering, only education or only medical education will now have to adopt multi-disciplinary mode.
  • There will be three types of institutions in the country – first – research university, second – teaching university and third – autonomous college. If there are more than three thousand students, then the college will be able to give degrees at their level.
