Live-in Partner Turns Out To Be Woman’s Murderer | Surat News – Times of India

SURAT: Investigation into the gruesome murder of a 30-year-old woman in presence of her one-year-old daughter in Kapodara area of the city revealed that her live-in partner had killed her over domestic disputes. He was depressed due to her never-ending demands.
Sarthana police on Wednesday arrested photocopying shop owner Prakash Patel (38) for the murder of his live-in partner Snehlata Banwari (30). The duo, despite being in a live-in relationship, were living as husband and wife. Prakash was booked for murder and under other sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Snehlata was found dead with her toddler sitting in the pool of her blood in Gautam Park Society of Kapodra on Tuesday. Her throat was slit by a sharp object.
According to police, on Tuesday, when Snehlata was busy with morning prayers and the baby was playing, Prakash slit her throat with a knife. He then left for his shop as usual. Police said after reaching his shop, Prakash made phone calls to Snehlata to mislead the police. He had also asked his neighbour to check on his wife as she was not answering his phone calls. Prakash also became inconsolable when police told him about Snehlata’s murder.
It did not take much time for the police to crack the case and arrest Prakash.
Primary investigation revealed that Prakash and Snehlata had met about three-and-a-half-years ago in Mumbai where the former used to come regularly for photocopy related work. Prakash was married and due to differences with his wife, they were living separately and a divorce case was also pending in court.
However, Prakash and Snehlata started living together at Gautam Park Society, and about a year ago, their daughter was born.
Soon after their daughter’s birth, Snehlata became apprehensive about the baby’s future and started pressuring Prakash to purchase property in her name. Meanwhile, Prakash got Rs 45 lakh after selling his land in his native village. He bought a house in Mumbai in Snehlata’s name for Rs 11 lakh. Also, the house in which they were living was transferred in her name. But Snehlata wanted more property in her name, which led to frequent fights between the two, said police.
Prakash was frustrated with the never-ending demands of Snehlata and decided to kill her, added police.
