Jharkhand: Trailer collides with bus on Ranchi-Patna highway, two killed, 10 injured

A trailer collided with a bus on National Highway 33 in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district on Tuesday. At least two people died in this accident and 10 others were reported injured.

Rohit Kumar Mahto, officer-in-charge of Ramgarh police station, said that a trailer and a passenger vehicle collided early in the morning in Chutupalu area, 50 km from the capital Ranchi. He said- “In this accident that happened on the Ranchi-Patna highway, two people died on the spot and 10 others were injured. All the injured have been admitted to Ramgarh Sadar Hospital.”

The officer-in-charge said that on the four-lane highway, the trailer first hit the divider and hit the bus on the other side. The bus was returning to Ranchi from Bakhtiyarpur in Bihar at the time of the incident. After the incident, the local people started demanding police deployment on the highway along with safety measures to avoid such road accidents. During this, the traffic was also disrupted for some time.

Rammgarh circle officer Sudhir Kumar said that traffic returned to normal after people called off the protest. Following the incident, the administration assured the local people to ensure safety on the highway.
