Jharkhand: Old pension scheme proposal approved, 100 units of free electricity will also be given to the poor

The Jharkhand cabinet has decided to implement the old pension scheme with certain conditions. Apart from this, 100 units of free electricity will also be given to the poor every month. The state cabinet on Friday approved several proposals. It is being told that a three-member committee will be constituted under the chairmanship of the Development Commissioner to implement the old pension scheme.

Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel told that this committee will prepare SOP to implement the scheme. It will be sent to the cabinet for approval. The old pension scheme was discontinued on April 1, 2004. It was replaced by the National Pension System (NPS).

Apart from this, the cabinet also approved the proposal of 100 units of free electricity for the poor. This was announced by the government in the budget for 2022-23. Dadel said that its benefit would be applicable for using up to 100 units of electricity. Different slabs will be applicable over it. The cabinet has approved a total of 55 proposals. These included a proposal to provide one kg of chana dal at the rate of Re 1 per month to each family covered under the Food Security Scheme.

Along with this, the cabinet also approved the proposal to give an additional Rs 27 under MNREGA wages. With this, a MNREGA worker in Jharkhand will get a minimum wage of Rs 237. The state also approved the rules for employment of local candidates in the private sector. According to the law, private companies have to give 75 percent reservation to local people in employment.
