haveri: Medical Students Returned From Ukraine Meet Haveri Dc | Hubballi News – Times of India

Haveri: Medical students who have returned from Ukraine are unhappy with the Breakdown district administration. The district administration had not contacted the students, even after 10 days, so 10 medical students from different parts of the district met deputy commissioner Sanjay Shettannavar on Friday, along with some BJP leaders.
According to students, the DC has not responded properly, and said he is busy with routine work.
The students said the Haveri district administration doesn’t have any concern for Indian medical students, who were stranded in Ukraine. The medical students met DC Sanjay Shettannavar on Friday, and were disappointed, as he did not respond properly.
“The DC was not interested in meeting us and hearing our grievances,” they alleged. Naveen Gyanagoudar died due to shelling in Ukraine on March 1, and was from Chalagere village in Ranebennur taluk. The 10 other students from here have returned safely to Haveri.
Their parents are worried about their children’s future, so they are putting pressure on the government, by giving a memorandum to the district administration.
“The district administration has not contacted us even after 10 days of returning from war-hit Ukraine. Meanwhile, we met the deputy commissioner on Friday at his office, but he didn’t respond properly, and said that evacuation from the war-hit country was not their duty. So, we are very upset about the DC’s treatment towards us,” said Suman Vaishyarwho is a final-year medical student at Kharkiv National Medical University, and was repatriated from Ukraine under ‘Operation Ganga,’ by the Union government.
Another parent of a medical student said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, Union minister Pralhad Joshi and others have expressed their concern for Indian medical students who have returned from Ukraine, but the authorities are behaving irresponsibly, and treating the students badly. “The government should initiate action against such officials immediately,” the parent demanded.
“Haveri DC Sanjay Shettennavar has no concern for the Indian medical students who have returned from Ukraine. Moreover, he has not attended to their grievances at his office on Friday. I will write a letter to chief minister Basavaraj Bommai and revenue minister R Ashok, urging for the DC to be transferred immediately,” said Siddaraj Kalkotidistrict president, BJP Haveri unit.
DC Sanjay Shettennavar said that he met the students and heard their grievances patiently. “I don’t know about their allegations against me,” he added.
