Cong Accuses Centre Of Hurting Interest Of Armed Forces | Varanasi News – Times of India

Varanasi: The Congress accused the Narendra Modi government of hurting the interests of armed forces. The national spokesperson of Congress Supriya Shrinet and boxer Vijender Singh, on Friday, released a booklet in support of the allegation.
Talking to reporters, they alleged that the Central government curtailed many facilities of the armed forces earlier provided by the government. They said that the BJP is capitalizing the sacrifices of the armed forces for its political gains.
They alleged that the Modi government imposed GST on the goods purchased from the CSD canteen, and also imposed tax on disability pension of the army men. The army officials of the short service commission were deprived of the facility of military hospital. The government also created hurdles in rehabilitation of ex-army men.
They further alleged that over 1.22 lakh posts are vacant in armed forces.
