Three Smugglers Arrested With Ganja Worth Over ₹1crore In Lanka Area | Varanasi News – Times of India

Varanasi: The DRI sleuths arrested three drug smugglers were arrested with a haul of ganja worth over Rs one crore near Dafi Toll Plaza in Lanka area on Thursday. A total of 590 kg ganja concealed beneath sacks of rice bran in a truck was recovered. The arrested persons were sent to jail.
According to reports, the Varanasi unit of DRI led by Anand Rai nabbed the ganja smugglers. Acting on a specific intelligence about transportation of huge quantities of ganja in a truck bearing registration number UK18CA6152 in from Rayagada (Odisha) and destined for Moradabad, they intercepted the truck near Dafi Toll Plaza and apprehended three persons on board.
The intercepted persons were identified as Md Irfan, Akram Ali and Asif Ali, all residents of Rampur. The recovered ganja valued at Rs 1.18 crore.
The truck was seized and the accused were sent to jail. Further inquiry is underway. tnn
