BJP releases list of 189 candidates in Karnataka: only 8 women, 52 new names; Party bid on Shettar’s displeasure – will persuade him

The BJP on Tuesday night released the list of 189 candidates for the Karnataka Assembly elections. There are only 8 women in it. CM Basavaraj Bommai will contest from Shiggaon. BY Vijayendra, son of former CM BS Yediyurappa, will contest from his father’s Shikaripura constituency. Now only 34 names are yet to be announced. CM Bommai said – The second list will also be released soon.

BJP national general secretary CT Ravi will contest from his traditional Chikmagalur seat. Minister R Ashok is being fielded from two seats. He will contest against state Congress chief DK Shivakumar from Kanakapura and also from Padmanabhanagar seat.

Minister V Somanna will also try his luck on two seats. He will be pitted against former Congress chief minister Siddaramaiah from Varuna seat. The party has also given him a ticket from Chamarajanagar. Health Minister Dr. Sudhakar K. Minister Dr. Ashwathnarayan is trying his luck from CN Malleswaram seat while Chikkaballapur seat.

BJP has given ticket to 32 from OBC, 30 from SC, 16 from ST and 5 lawyers. Union Minister and in-charge of Karnataka Dharmendra Pradhan released this list at the party headquarters in New Delhi.

Shettar’s rebellious attitude
The attitude of former Karnataka CM Jagadish Shettar is showing rebellion. The party had asked him to declare himself not to contest the elections, but he refused. They are adamant on contesting elections. When the media questioned this, Pradhan said – the party will convince him.

Senior leader KS Eshwarappa refused to contest elections
Karnataka BJP’s senior leader KS Eshwarappa has written a letter to the party’s national president JP Nadda. He has ruled out contesting the upcoming assembly elections in the state. He said- I had told about my decision in the Karnataka BJP election committee meeting held in Bengaluru, but party leaders Prahlad Joshi, Nalin Kumar Kateel and other leaders denied my decision.

The meeting was held on Sunday to decide the names of the candidates.

A meeting of the Central Election Committee was held at the BJP headquarters in Delhi on Sunday to finalize the names of the candidates. The top leadership of BJP attended the meeting. In which all senior leaders including PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, Rajnath Singh and BJP General Secretary BL Santosh were present.

Voting will be held on 10th, results will come on 13th May
Assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on May 10. The results will come on 13 May. Voting will be done in one phase. Karnataka has 5.21 crore voters, who will vote in 224 assembly seats. Those who will be 18 years old on April 1 will also be able to vote. Read full news…
