Apple could be planning to refresh its iMac lineup.

Apple’s new 24-inch iMac and MacBooks could launch by the end of October, per Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter. Here’s what we know.

Apple could be looking at launching new MacBooks and an updated iMac by the end of this month, Mark Gurman reports. These updated models, which may consist of a new 13-inch MacBook Pro, high-end MacBook Pro, and the 24-inch iMac—could be announced as soon as the 30th or 31st of October.

Apple MacBooks, iMac in Short Supply

In Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter, Gurman mentions that Apple’s MacBooks and iMac have been in short supply, and this could be an indication that Apple is looking to clear stocks before the official announcement during the end of this month.

Further, the iMac, in particular, has gone more than 900 days without any update to hardware since its launch in 2021 with the M1 chipset—Apple’s first generation in-house silicon. And, while Apple planned to launch an updated model later, the plans had to be “adjusted.” Nevertheless, Gurman says he’s been told of a “Mac-centered product launch around the end of this month. That could be its chance to announce this model.”

New MacBooks Also Expected

Alongside the iMac, Apple is also expected to update the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and due to “headway” with the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, Apple could also update these. Gurman notes that this move “would be unusual but not inconceivable,” considering Apple launched new models in January, earlier this year.

In addition, Gurman says that Apple is also working on a high-end 32-inch iMac to be launched sometime in 2024 or 2025. And if it does come into fruition, it will become the largest iMac to ever launch.
