Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik has once again attacked the central government. Malik, who reached the Swami Dayal Dham in Dadri, Haryana, said that he had met PM Modi during the continuation of the farmers’ agitation against the agricultural laws. They were very proud when they met. Malik also said that when he met Home Minister Amit Shah, he said that wrong feedback has been given to the PM regarding the farmers’ agitation.

Satya Pal Malik has been the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir before Meghalaya. They have been attacking the central government even during the farmers’ agitation. He was honored by the Phogat Khap in Dadri. After that he said these things.

This is what Satyapal Malik said
Malik said, ‘I went to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of farmers. There I had a fight in 5 minutes. The Prime Minister was very proud. When I told him that 500 people have died, he said – are you dead for me? On this I said that you have died for you, who you have become the king. There was a fight.’

Satyapal Malik said that PM Modi advised him to meet Home Minister Amit Shah. After this he met Shah, Shah told him that Satyapal people had given him wrong feedback. Don’t worry, keep meeting. Someday they will understand this.

Peasant movement can happen again, ready to quit
Malik said that the farmers’ movement is not over yet, but has been postponed. If there is any injustice or atrocities with the farmers, then it can start again. He said that the central government should give legal guarantee to the farmers on MSP. The government should immediately withdraw the cases registered against the farmers by showing honesty. He said that if the need arises for the farmers, they are ready to give up the post of governor.

Despite assurances, farmers’ demands remain in limbo

The farmers sitting on the border of Delhi for a year had returned home on 11 December 2021 after a written assurance from the Central Government. The central government had assured the farmers’ organizations that a committee would be formed for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) which would include agriculture experts, scientists and representatives of farmers’ unions besides government officials. However, this committee has not yet been constituted.

During the agitation, the police registered thousands of cases against the farmers. The government had also assured to withdraw this case, but it has not happened. In Haryana, out of total 272 cases registered against more than 48 thousand farmers, chargesheets of 178 have been filed in the court. 57 cases were untraceable while the process of cancellation of 29 cases is pending. Cancellation papers of only 8 cases have been prepared.

The situation is also not clear about the compensation to be given to the dependents of the farmers killed in the farmers’ agitation. Farmers’ organizations claimed that more than 700 farmers died in the agitation. Also demanded compensation from the government to the families of all the deceased farmers. The farmers had demanded compensation and jobs on the lines of Punjab to the families of the farmers who died. The BJP governments of UP and Haryana had given assurance about this, but till now the matter has not progressed.

The farmers had also objected to the electricity bill and the pollution law. On this also the central government has not clarified the situation yet. Despite assurances from the Centre, all the demands of the farmers are in limbo.
