New Delhi: Kartik Aaryan is currently enjoying the success of his latest film, ‘Chandu Champion’, directed by Kabir Khan. Even filmmaker Karan Johar, who had a well-known fallout with Kartik during the making of ‘Dostana 2’, praised the actor’s performance in the new film.

Karan Johar shared a poster of ‘Chandu Champion’ on his Instagram Stories, commenting, “Kabir Khan directs this brave and inspiring life tale like a love letter to the human spirit! Kartik Aaryan gives his career-best performance with a humane and honest portrayal… a must-watch.” Kartik responded to the gesture on his Instagram Stories, saying, “Thank you Karan. Means a lot.”

Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan’s patch up

The fallout between Karan and Kartik originated on the sets of ‘Dostana 2’. Kartik was initially cast alongside Janhvi Kapoor and newcomer Lakshya in the sequel to the 2008 romantic comedy ‘Dostana’, directed by Collin D’Cunha. However, due to reported issues with Kartik’s behaviour on set, he was dropped from the film. Dharma Productions announced that the film would be shelved and recast for later production. Neither Kartik nor Janhvi have publicly discussed the reasons behind the shelving of ‘Dostana 2’.

Despite their previous differences, Kartik and Karan were seen together at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in August last year, with their photos widely shared on social media. They were also spotted chatting at an award show last year.

I find myself elated to also announce the supremely talented Kartik Aaryan as our lead for this story that will unfold in cinemas on 15th August, 2025.”
