  • 4.3 Lakh Crores 72 GHz Spectrum Will Be Auctioned, 5G Will Be 10 Times Faster Than Existing 4G Service

New DelhiOne hour ago

The auction of 5G telecom spectrum is starting from Tuesday i.e. today. The bidding process will start from 10 am to 6 pm. Telecom department sources said the number of auction days would depend on the actual demand for radio waves and the strategy of individual bidders. A total of 72 GHz spectrum worth Rs 4.3 lakh crore will be put on the block during the auction.

Its validity will be 20 years. The auction will be held for various low frequency band, medium and high frequency band radio waves. The successful company in the auction will be able to provide 5G service through this. It will be 10 times faster than the existing 4G service.

Reliance deposits 140 times more than Adani’s
Recently, to participate in the 5G spectrum auction, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Adani Data Networks had deposited earnest money. Reliance’s intentions are known from the fact that its earnest money is 2.5 times that of Bharti Airtel and 6.3 times more than Vodafone Idea. This is 140 times more than the amount deposited by Adani Data Networks.

Adani deposited Rs 100 crore
Vodafone Idea has deposited Rs 2,200 crore, Bharti Airtel Rs 5,500 crore, Adani Data Networks Rs 100 crore and Reliance Jio Rs 14,000 crore, according to the list of pre-qualified bidders posted on the telecom department’s website. This shows that Adani will bid only for the low priced spectrum during the auction.

jio highest eligibility points
With an EMD of Rs 14,000 crore, the eligibility points allotted to Jio for the auction is 1,59,830, which is the highest among the four bidders. Typically, the EMD amount gives a broad indication of the player’s appetite, strategy and plan to pick up spectrum in the auction. Airtel’s eligibility points are 66,330, while Vodafone Idea has 29,370. Adani has got 1,650 points based on his deposit amount.

These companies are likely to dominate the bid
Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Adani Group are likely to dominate the bidding. Together, the four companies have deposited an earnest money amounting to Rs 21,800 crore. This will allow them to bid for spectrum worth Rs 2.3 trillion (53% of the total amount). Industry analysts said telecom service providers are unlikely to aggressively bid in all the bands put up for auction.

What is spectrum and how does it work?
Airwaves are radio frequencies within the electromagnetic spectrum that can carry information wirelessly for many services, including telecommunications. The government manages and allocates these airwaves. The spectrum can be divided into bands ranging from low frequency to high frequency. High-frequency waves carry more data and are faster than low-frequency waves but can be easily blocked or obstructed. Lower-frequency waves can provide wider coverage.

Auction for these frequency bands
The auction will be conducted for radio waves in various low frequency bands (600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz), medium (3300 MHz) and high frequency bands (26GHz). These bands will help the operators to strengthen their network coverage. Of the nine bands, the 600 Mhz, 700 Mhz, 3.3 Ghz and 26 Ghz bands have never been allocated.

Download speed up to 20 Gbps
Data download speeds of up to 20 Gbps can be found in 5G networks. The fifth generation of internet network is called 5G. It is a wireless broadband Internet service that provides high-speed Internet service through waves. There are mainly three types of frequency bands in it.

  • Low Frequency Band – Best in area coverage, internet speed 100 Mbps, internet speed low
  • Mid Frequency Band – Internet speed 1.5 Gbps above low band, area coverage less than low frequency band, good in terms of signal
  • High Frequency Band – Internet speed maximum 20 Gbps, lowest area cover, good in terms of signal too

With the introduction of 5G, work will be easier
A lot is about to change in India with the introduction of 5G internet service. This will not only make the work of the people easier, but will also change a lot in the entertainment and communication sector. Ericsson, a company working for 5G, believes that there will be more than 500 million 5G internet users in India in 5 years.

What will be the benefits of introducing 5G?

  • The first advantage will be that users will be able to use fast speed internet.
  • The arrival of 5G in the field of video gaming will bring a big change.
  • Videos will be able to stream without buffering or stopping.
  • In Internet calls, the sound will come without pause and clearly.
  • A 2 GB movie will be downloaded in 10 to 20 seconds.
  • Drone use will be possible under the supervision of fields in the agricultural sector.
  • It will be easier to operate metro and driverless vehicles.
  • Robots will be easier to use in virtual reality and factories.
