Eight people of a family of two died while trying to enter the US illegally from Canada. Two children were also included in these. Among those who died, a family was a resident of Mehsana in Gujarat. The deceased have been identified as Pravinbhai Chowdhary (50), Pravinbhai’s wife Dakshaben (45), daughter Vidhiben (23) and son Mitkumar (20).

Family went on tourist visa
Pravinbhai’s cousin Jasubhai Chowdhary told Bhaskar that two months ago Pravinbhai had gone to Canada with the family on a visitor’s visa. No one at home knew that they were trying to enter the US illegally. We got to know about this from our other relatives living in Canada.
Police recovered 8 bodies from this area. These 2 children were also involved.
Boat overturned due to strong winds
According to Reuters, two families of Indian and Romanian origin were trying to cross the St. Lawrence River by boat. Meanwhile, due to strong winds, the boat overturned and everyone died. Police recovered the bodies on Thursday near an overturned boat in an area of Quebec.
Canadian PM expressed condolences
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed condolences. He said – The accident was very painful. Right now we do not have the exact information about what and how happened there. We are probing the matter. After this it will be ensured that this does not happen again.

Last year also an Indian family had died
Last year too, an Indian family trying to go to America from Manitoba, Canada, died due to cold. These people were residents of Gujarat. The cause of death was minus 35 degree Celsius and snow storm. According to the police chief, the number of people trying to cross the St. Lawrence River illegally is on the rise. In the last 3 months, about 80 people have tried to enter America through this route. Most of these people were Romanians and Indians.
