A 72-year-old man died after a young man jumped over an elderly man in a swimming pool in Mumbai, Maharashtra. After this incident, a case has been registered against the youth. The incident took place on Sunday evening at the Ozone swimming pool in Goregaon area.
Giving information about the accident, a police officer said that the deceased has been identified as Vishnu Samant. He was swimming in the pool when the incident happened when a 20-year-old man jumped into the pool from a height. Samant received injuries on his neck and other parts of the body. A case has also been registered against the young man for unknowingly killing the old man. On the complaint of the wife, a case has been registered against the youth under IPC section 304-A (death by negligence).
Pool came with grandson
According to reports, Samant had gone for a swim with his 14-year-old grandson Neil at the Ozone Pool in Siddharth Nagar. Here he often used to come for swimming from 5 to 6 o’clock. Even on the day of the incident, he reached his schedule time and got down in the pool for swimming, only then this incident happened with him. Immediately after the incident, Neil called his grandmother and informed her about the accident. Seeing Samant unconscious, the pool staff immediately took him to Kapadia Hospital. But the doctors declared him dead.
Records being made of pool staff
The police is currently investigating the matter. Statements of eyewitnesses and pool staff are being recorded. When the sister of the deceased reached the hospital in the evening, she fainted on seeing her brother’s dead body. Please tell that Samant lived in Goregaon East and his wife used to go to the pool many times with him, but she was at home on the day of the accident.
What does the law say in such cases
When a person causes the death of a person by negligence or rashness, the section of culpable homicide does not apply in such a case. In such cases, the guilty person gets imprisonment of one year, which may extend to two years, and there is also a provision to impose fine.
