Two people, including the brother of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate, were killed in election violence on Sunday during the first phase of local body elections in Pakistan’s Sindh. As polling began in all 14 districts on Sunday morning, the Election Commission started receiving reports of violence, scuffles and alleged mismanagement from the upper and lower regions of Sindh.
One death each was reported in Sanghar and Sukkar on Sunday afternoon, which was later confirmed by the police. He said that the deceased was the brother of a candidate in the municipal area of Sanghar.
Dawn quoted PTI Divisional President Mushtaq Junejo from Tando Adam as saying that I can confirm the death of Kaiser, brother of our party’s candidate Asghar Gandapur in Tando Adam. Caesar was subjected to violence, which led to his death. The deceased is the brother of Zafar, who is contesting from Kaiser Ward No.
