With the Telangana assembly elections likely to be held in December, BJP’s much-anticipated ‘Bus Yatra’ will be rolled out from September 26 to October 13, however, the names of the leaders who will lead the programme, and the route map are yet to be finalised.

The Yatra has been divided into three routes so that every Mandal and constituency is covered.

So far, the Yatra through the ‘Krishna Zone -South West’ route has been finalised, which will start from Kollapur and end at Malakpet. The 18-day yatra on this route will cover 1,315 km.

NV Subhash, Telangana BJP spokesperson, said: “We will bring to the notice of the public how BRS has been consistently cheating people. We will highlight KCR government’s unfulfilled promises and the benefits that the Central government has brought to the people of Telangana. Last year, our unit president Bandi Sanjay Kumar changed the dynamics of Telangana politics through his Praja Sangrama Yatra. We hope to achieve the same impact with this bus Yatra”.

When asked if the Yatra was divided into three routes because no tall leaders want to share the limelight, Subhash said: “No, the Yatra has three legs because that is the only way we can cover the state. It will be difficult for one leader to do this, especially when the elections are just a couple of months away.”

This is the first major initiative that will be taken up by Telangana BJP after G Kishan Reddy took charge. He just completed a 24-hour hunger strike against the BRS government. The programme had to be shifted to the BJP office after the police disrupted it at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad.

The BJP leaders who might be helming the Yatras are said to be Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Etela Rajender. Each of these leaders have a good following, but a confirmation is still awaited.

It can be recalled here that Bandi Sanjay was praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his Praja Sangrama Yatra. He interacted with people throughout the heartland of Telangana and covered six Lok Sabha constituencies, 11 Vidhan Sabha constituencies, and 18 districts within a span of 116 days.
