New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to the President of Palestinian H.E. Mahmoud Abbas and conveyed his condolences at the loss of civilian lives in the bombing at Gaza Hospital.
Amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, Modi said that India will continue to send humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
In a post on platform X, Modi said, “Spoke to the President of the Palestinian Authority H.E. Mahmoud Abbas. Conveyed my condolences at the loss of civilian lives at the Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza. We will continue to send humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people. Shared our deep concern at the terrorism, violence and deteriorating security situation in the region. Reiterated India’s long-standing principled position on the Israel-Palestine issue.”

Modi received a call from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on October 10, just days after the terrorist group launched a surprise attack on October 7. In response, Israel launched a complete siege of the Gaza Strip, halting deliveries of electricity, fuel, water, and food to the enclosed region.
Meanwhile, a deadly blast at a Gaza hospital on Tuesday, which killed hundreds of civilians, has drawn strong and sustained condemnation from world leaders.
Israeli authorities blame the hospital blast on a misfired rocket launched by militants in Gaza, while Palestinian officials claim it was an Israeli airstrike.
On Wednesday, Modi had expressed shock at the loss of lives in the attack on the hospital and that those involved in civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict should be held responsible.
“Civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict are a matter of serious and continuing concern. Those involved should be held responsible,” Modi had said on X.
