Legal Name Change

Before going to an Enrollment Centre, an individual needs to update their name in the official records. This will help them secure a name change certificate which will be legally approved. 

Visit Aadhaar Enrollment Centre

The next step is to visit the Aadhaar Enrollment Centre and submit all the required documentation including your name change certificate, marriage certificate, original Aadhaar card, along with another identity document. These documents need to be submitted along with the application that the centre will provide to you. 

Application Submission And Biometric Verification

Now submit the filled application form with the necessary documents and complete your biometric verification such as fingerprint and iris scan to authenticate your identity and validate the updation request.

Secure Acknowledgement Slip

After the completion of the application and verification process, you will receive an acknowledgment slip which will include the Update Request Number (URN). Make sure to keep this slip with you securely. You can also use this to track your application status. The whole process will cost you Rs 50 for making the changes.

You can opt to get a laminated copy of the Aadhaar in mail from the government or download the document in its digital form after the changes have been made.
