Protesters set a police vehicle on fire in Kolkata’s Lal Bazar area
The BJP’s Secretariat (Nabanna) Chalo March turned violent against the Mamata Banerjee government on September 13 in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. Since then the war of words between BJP and TMC continues. Meanwhile, Youth Congress national chief BS Srinivas has tweeted a video in which a man dressed in an orange T-shirt is trying to burn a towel kept in a police car with a cigarette lighter.
Posting the video, Srinivas wrote, “Just identify, which party’s ‘nationalist rioters’ are burning police jeeps in West Bengal?”
During the march, protesters torched a police vehicle.
Srinivas has posted another video on his Twitter handle, in which a man is seen vandalizing a police vehicle with a BJP flag. With this post, the Congress leader has written that I am sure that “Prime Minister will recognize these rioters by seeing their clothes, flags and will never forgive from the heart..!”
On September 13, during a violent protest, a police vehicle was torched by protesters in the Lal Bazar area of Kolkata. After which the police had to lathi-charge to control the crowd. The police also used tear gas shells and water cannons to stop the BJP workers. The police had also detained Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari and state president Sukanta Majumdar, who were leading the agitation.

The BJP had announced a state-wide agitation against the Mamata Banerjee government on the issue of corruption and law and order. It was named Secretariat Chalo March (Nabanna Chalo March). For this, BJP workers and leaders from different districts of West Bengal were reaching Kolkata by train and buses two days ago. Showing strictness against the protest, the police started detaining BJP workers in different districts itself.
The police was also picking up the workers coming by train and buses from the railway station and bus terminal itself. The protesters were agitated by the police action.
The police dragged the protesters to the police station.
The assembly has started in West Bengal on Wednesday, it is believed that this demonstration of BJP was an attempt to show strength on the road. which later turned violent. In the protest, the BJP had made an issue of the corruption of Trinamool leaders in Bengal.
