UP Minister Swami Prasad Maurya, 4 BJP MLAs resign, join Samajwadi Party

The Uttar Pradesh Labour Minister Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from cabinet and joined the Samajwadi Party ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, citing neglect towards Dalits and farmers by the BJP government.

In his letter, Maurya alleged negligence towards Dalits, farmers, small and medium scale businesses and unemployed youths by the Yogi Adityanath government.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav welcomed Maurya and said he always stood for justice in society.

Maurya’s resignation was followed by the resignations of four BJP MLAs, Roshan Lal Verma, Bhagwati Prasad Sagar Brajesh Prajapati and Vinay Shakya.
