A cargo plane operated by a Ukraine-based air carrier crashed in northern Greece late Saturday. According to Greek civil aviation officials, eight people were on board the plane. The pilot requested an emergency landing due to an engine failure, but the plane lost signal and crashed.

A cargo plane carrying eight people crashed near the city of Kavala in northern Greece late Saturday, the fire department and state TV reported. State TV ERT reported that the plane was an Antonov An-12, owned by a Ukrainian company, on a flight from Serbia to Jordan.
Video footage uploaded to ertnews.gr shows the plane descending rapidly before hitting the ground in flames in what appears to be an explosion. The fire department could not confirm the type of plane, but said initial reports had eight people on board.
It said in a statement that 15 firefighters and seven locomotives were deployed to douse the fire that broke out after the accident. More rescuers have been sent. The Special Disaster Response Unit is investigating the scene. A fire brigade official said that we are treating the cargo as dangerous material.

This incident happened at a time when the war between Ukraine and Russia is going on. Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine and residential areas are also being targeted. Ukraine is also responding to Russia on its behalf in every possible way. Ukraine also claims that it has killed 47 Russian soldiers.
