UEFA Reacts To Norwich City’s ‘Powerful’ Message On World Mental Health Day – News18

When the planet celebrated World Mental Health Day on October 10, English football club Norwich City shared a heart-melting video with its fans to mark the occasion.

Apart from raising awareness about mental diseases, the clip well and truly demonstrates the power of football to bring happiness to someone’s life.

It was dropped on the Championship club’s official X account, with a text reading, “At times, it can be obvious when someone is struggling to cope, but sometimes the signs are harder to spot.” The story of the video focuses on a couple of die-hard Norwich City fans, who love to watch their favourite team live in action from the stands.

Despite sharing the same feelings for the club, the two individuals were portrayed differently in the video. One of them looked excited and charged up, while the other seemed comparatively calm and quiet. As the video progressed, a special friendship developed between both fans. They could be seen enjoying matches while donning the Norwich City colours. After Norwich secured victory in one of the matches, the excited fan went on to gift his scarf to the other person.

An unexpected twist unfolded at the end of the video when the quieter fan entered the stands alone with that scarf in his hand. He kept it on the chair where his friend used to sit. The last frame featured a special message which read, “Check in on those around you.” Norwich City also revealed some helpline numbers where people struggling with any mental issue can connect and seek necessary assistance.

Viewers were left teary-eyed after watching the video. Apart from countless fans, Norwich City also garnered appreciation from the UEFA for the post. “This is incredibly powerful, well done, Norwich City,” the European football governing body commented.

Many fans said it is “an incredible way” to spread awareness about mental health. “This post alone could encourage someone to ask the important questions and actually save a life,” a user added in her comment.
