A few days ago, Barakpur MP Arjun Singh left the BJP and joined the Trinamool. And then a meeting was called on behalf of the party in Shyamnagar, where Abhishek Banerjee was present as the keynote speaker. All the MPs, MLAs and office bearers of North 24 Parganas were asked to be present at the inaugural meeting. Dumdum MP Saugat Roy was also present there. He, however, questioned the rationale for convening the meeting in his usual manner.

Earlier, the Dumdum MP was seen expressing his views outside the party lines. Recently, Saugatbabu had publicly expressed his anger against Syndicate Raj in his area. In this context, he said, the way the clashes are taking place with Bakhra did not happen even during the Naxal period. Not just one incident, but one incident after another of rape and violence against women in the state has not been well received. In this context, he said, “It is a shame that a woman was tortured in the state where the Chief Minister is a woman.” The party spokesperson had to give a counter statement. Another MP Shatabdi Roy also spoke in a different tone to that.
