Time to say goodbyes: The journey of Queen Elizabeth’s coffin

Queen Elizabeth’s coffin, from the ballroom of Balmoral castle near Ballater village in the East of Scotland, will undertake its first lapse of the journey through the twin adjacent towns Aberdeen and Dundee on September 11 to reach Holyroodhouse Edinburgh the same day.

The ballroom in Balmoral, where her coffin has been lying since she passed away on September 8, is part of her favourite memories.

Since 1852, every year in this ballroom, an annual ball is held to say thank you to the staff. The Royals and staff take part in the tradition. This tradition was started by the Queen’s parents.

Since the Queen was 12, she has been dancing at a ball.

People from nearby areas have been dropping in hundreds to say their final goodbyes to the Queen as she embarks upon a journey to Edinburgh from Balmoral.

Special buses were arranged from Ballater village to Balmoral for people to conveniently make their way to pay their last respects.

“I even came with my dogs as the Queen loved the dogs,” said a father of young children who came with his two dogs.

At the time when the coffin makes its journey, the King will meet the Commonwealth Secretary General at Buckingham Palace. The King will then host Realm High Commissioners and their spouses in the Bow Room at Buckingham Palace, the place where the Queen’s coffin will be brought on September 13.
