Terror Outfit Jaish-E-Mohammed Conducted Recce Of RSS Office In Nagpur: Police

New Delhi: A case has been registered against unidentified members of the terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed for conducting recce of “vital installations”, including RSS headquarters, in Nagpur.

The case has been registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and is being investigated by the Nagpur Police crime branch.

The FIR was registered at Kotwali police station, under the jurisdiction of which the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is located.

“We received info that a few Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists conducted a recce of some places in Nagpur. We have registered an offence under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, it is being investigated by the Crime Branch,” Nagpur Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar told reporters.

Besides the RSS office, Jaish-e-Mohammed members also conducted a recce of Dr Hedgewar Smriti Temple complex.

The security has been beefed up at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur and Hedgewar Bhavan. No more information has been provided by the police.

According to sources, a youth from Jammu and Kashmir came to Nagpur in July, 2021, and tried to conduct a recce of the Sangh’s office.

The youth was recently caught with a grenade near the Pumpor Police Station area in Kashmir. Sources said the information was revealed by the youth during interrogation. Efforts are being made to get more information from him.

Earlier this week, top Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Mir Owaisi was killed by the security forces in the Pulwama area of Jammu and Kashmir. Two other JeM terrorists were also gunned down by the forces.
