Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin held a cabinet meeting on Monday. The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss the report of the probe into the death of former chief minister Jayalalitha’s death, Thoothukudi violence and online gambling, among other issues.
Retired judge Arumugasamy, who conducted a probe into Jayalalitha’s death, submitted his report on August 27 while retired judge Aruna Jagadeesan submitted the report on the 2018 Thoothukudi firing which took place during an anti-Sterlite protest.
The cabinet agreed to table Aruna Jagadeesan’s report in the Assembly which recommended departmental action against 17 police personnel and four district officials, including the Collector.

Meanwhile, it was revealed in the cabinet meeting that Arumugasamy, who conducted the enquiry into Jayalalitha’s death, recommended a government enquiry on VK Sasikala, Sivakumar, former health minister Vijayabhaskar and former chief secretary Ram Mohan Rao. The cabinet has also decided to acquire legal advice, take action and table the report in the Assembly.
The Arumugasamy Commission commenced its investigation into the matter in November 2017.
Another important issue was that of online gambling and it was informed that preparations are on to bring an ordinance against online gambling.
