Booster dose trials will be conducted on 3 thousand people in the country. The results of this trial will decide whether to apply a booster dose to all people or not. The central government has launched a study to find out the need for booster doses, which will include people who took the second dose of the vaccine six months ago.

The study is being conducted by the Department of Biotechnology’s Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI). This will cover the CoveShield, Covaxin and Sputnik-V vaccines. Samples will be collected from Delhi-NCR, Gurugram and Faridabad for the study.

Start of taking blood samples
According to News18, an official involved in this study said that this is an academic study whose purpose is to understand how long immunity from the vaccine lasts. To study the immunity built in our cells, the work of taking blood samples has started.

He said that we will test the response and antibodies of T and B cells and also see what is the level of protection in the body after six months of getting the second dose. This will give us an understanding whether the country needs a booster dose or not.

How will the study be done?
Four categories of people have been prepared for this study – people above 40 years of age, people below 40 years of age, people who have had corona infection before getting the vaccine and those who are already suffering from any disease. are. Simple questions and answers have been designed to collect medical history, vaccination status and other clinical information of all these people.
