The snowfall in the northern part of the country, especially Kashmir, for the last 24 hours has not only thrown life out of gear, but has also turned bitterly cold. Vaishno Devi’s helicopter service was stopped due to heavy rain and snowfall. Many main roads are closed due to landslides.

In Himachal, 194 roads including 3 National Highways remained closed due to snowfall. The third spell of severe winter in Haryana will start from Saturday. Day and night temperatures will drop. The mercury can drop up to 5 degrees at night.

There is little hope of getting relief from the cold in Bihar. But, due to the effect of sunlight coming out in most of the districts of Bihar for 72 hours, an increase in day and night temperatures was recorded in most of the districts. During this, there was relief from the cold during the day.

The Meteorological Department has issued yellow and orange alerts for cold wave in 16 cities for the next five days. The temperature is expected to fall by 3 to 4 degree Celsius during this period. There is a possibility of severe cold throughout this week. The mercury dropped below 10 degrees Celsius in most cities last night with Jaisalmer being the coldest city at 5.4 degrees Celsius. The weather has changed in Bhopal due to the Western Disturbance that has reached North India. On Friday, 750 meter high clouds covered the city. It was foggy in the morning. During this visibility had reached 3000 meters. The wind also blew at a speed of 16 km per hour during the day. Due to cloud cover, the night temperature increased by 2.8 degrees while the day temperature dropped by two degrees.

Meteorologists said that the night temperature was recorded at 13 degrees, 2.1 degrees above normal. Due to which there was some relief from night fever as compared to the last 10 days. Low clouds of 750 to 900 meters prevailed in the city since morning. Later the height of the clouds had increased to 3000 meters. The humidity also increased to 80% in the morning. Due to Western Disturbance, South-West wind prevailed in the city. The day’s temperature was 26.5 degrees. It fell by 1.2 degrees as compared to Thursday. Western disturbance is present on the mountains in the form of turf. It may snow there. Melting snow will bring cold air here. Due to this, the night para can fall by 3-4 degrees on Sunday.

Bihar: Yellow alert in 20 cities, Chhapra and Sabour were the coldest

On Friday, 21 cities across the state recorded a rise in the minimum temperature. Chhapra and Sabour districts were the coldest on Friday where the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.2 degree Celsius. Except Saran, Araria, Kishanganj, all the cities of the state recorded a rise in the minimum temperature. The minimum temperature of the capital Patna recorded an increase of about 1.7 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature was recorded at 9 degree Celsius. A yellow alert has been issued for dense fog on Friday in 20 districts including Vaishali, Samastipur, Madhepura, Motihari, Purnia, Saran of Bihar. Read full news…

Chhattisgarh: afternoon mercury recorded 15 degrees in the capital

The wind direction in Chhattisgarh has changed from north to westerly. It is dry but not cold. The temperature has increased by about 3 degrees in the last two-three days. Sun Uttarayan is happening from January 14 on Makar Sankranti. From this date, the cold starts decreasing gradually in Chhattisgarh. Meteorologists estimate that not only in the plains of Chhattisgarh but also in the jungle-mountains, there is no possibility of much increase in cold.

The afternoon mercury was recorded 15 degrees in the capital on Friday. This is one degree more than normal. The temperature in Ambikapur, Pendrarod, Bilaspur and Jagdalpur has reached between 10 and 14 degrees. The mercury in Rajnandgaon has been 6 degrees above normal. Meteorologists say that there may be an increase in the night temperature in the state in the next one or two days. The maximum temperature in Raipur will be around 31 and minimum around 15.

Snowfall continues again in the mountains. Snowfall has occurred in Himachal Shimla, Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Mandi and Kinnaur. Due to fresh snowfall, 194 roads, including three national highways remained closed and 148 power transformers stalled in the state on Friday. The movement of vehicles from Atal Tunnel has stopped once again. The Manali-Keylong highway was also closed. On Thursday night, the road was blocked due to one and a half feet of fresh snowfall near the Atal Tunnel. Snowfall in Rohtang, Kunzum, Baralacha and Kugati Pass brought cheer to the faces of the tourists.
