After the Atiq-Ashraf massacre, how did 48 hours pass in Prayagraj’s ancestral areas Chakia and Kasari-Masari? The next day of the massacre i.e. Sunday morning, Bhaskar reporter reached Ateeq’s mansion-like ancestral house, 4 km from Prayagraj railway station, which has now turned into ruins. Police is stationed in the courtyard and on the road. Atiq has 2 dogs kept inside the enclosure. Both are hungry. They start barking as soon as they hear someone’s sound.
From Chakia to Kasari, there is a ruined house every 500 meters. These houses belong to Atiq’s operatives, which have been demolished with bulldozers. There is silence in the streets. Bulldozers ran twice at Atiq’s office. First time in Mayawati government, second time in Yogi government.
Atiq-Ashraf were shot at the gate of Colvin Hospital on Saturday night. This area was once the stronghold of Atiq. It is barely 2 to 3 km away from Atiq’s ancestral house. Local people tell that when Atiq’s convoy used to pass through here earlier, people used to stand on both sides of the road and greet him.
After his murder, the shutters of the shops here have fallen. There is silence in the market. Internet shutdown. It seemed as if it was not morning. Moving from Colvin towards Chakia, at a distance of 1 to 1.5 km, a dilapidated mansion-like house is visible. On enquiry, it is revealed that it was Atiq’s office. Which was demolished by the administration.
A person standing next to him says in a loud voice, no it was Atiq’s torture room. This is where Atiq used to keep people hostage. Umesh Pal was kept here when he was kidnapped. Still, a blue poster of Atiq’s wife Shaista Parveen and a BSP flag flutter over the ruins. Ateeq Ahmad used to come out from his balcony and greet the people.

If we move ahead from here, it seems that entry has been made in Chakia. Force at every step. Barricading in place. A bulldozer ran over a house every 500 metres. These are the houses of Atiq and his gang members, which were demolished after the Yogi government came to power in 2017.
On coming 1.5 to 2 km ahead of the office, there is Atiq’s ancestral house. There are now only traces of the house, but the shape resembles that of a royal mansion.
Atiq’s status can be gauged from the fact that no one dared to take the old bicycle lying in ruins to the iron rod. The people around tell without coming in front of the camera that Atiq’s court used to be held here. Hank was such that no one used to blow horn on the road.
Some people of the locality appeared angry with the Atiq murder case. One of them says, you find out whether any belongings of any sister-daughter have ever been snatched within a radius of 5 km in Atiq’s area. Or something wrong has happened.

Now only these are left, the responsibility of taking care of them has been given to Heera.

Now if we walk inside the ruins of Atiq’s haveli, then only traces of Atiq’s empire are visible in it. There is a broken meeting inside, an old tractor is standing. Around which now grass has grown. There is also a car parked. It was told that it was once run by Atiq’s father.
There is a school in front of Atiq’s house, which is closed. People are imprisoned in the houses in the nearby houses, but the eyes are on the road. In some places small groups of youths are whispering.

After Atiq’s ancestral home, we now move towards the Kasari-Masari forest. It was here that Atiq and Ashraf were brought by the police and at their instance, 2 pistols and 58 cartridges were recovered from the ruins. The police had taken both the brothers to Calvin Hospital from here on the night of the murder.

Here the forest is less and the bushes are more visible, two fallen houses are also seen here. This is the ruins where the pistol was found. There is a hut in front, in which two people are seen. When asked, they don’t tell the name, but they say, this was also Atiq’s house.
Some people around are angry about Atiq’s death. They say that Atiq was murdered in police custody. Police should not have compromised on security.

This road leading to Kasari-Masari village is called Kasari-Masari forest. Once it was a forest, but now agriculture is done here. There is a road. There is also some settlement ahead.

The day is Monday, 7 pm. About 2 km from the ancestral house is the Kasari-Masari cemetery. The Rapid Action Force has taken care of the front here. Within a short time the dead bodies of both the brothers are taken from in front of their ancestral house in Chakia. We also go ahead with the media, but are stopped.
Due to the darkness, each other’s faces have also started appearing blurred. People are standing on the roofs, police boots are breaking the silence on the road. Vajra vehicles, fire brigade vehicles are stationed at different places. If you look at the houses built on both sides of the street, then only people are visible. Many people want to go to the soil, but the police do not allow them to go ahead. The soldiers are on the rooftops. Only then the Joint Commissioner reaches the spot. As soon as he gets off the car, he orders a flag march in the area.

Due to the force, darkness and all the doubts, it felt as if Kashmir had come. Most of the people were whispering. The point was almost the same…what has happened is wrong.
The police have made arrangements for generators and lights inside the cemetery. Outside, the police is only allowing people close to the family to enter, that too after seeing the Aadhaar card. Meanwhile, suddenly some women come. The cameras of the media have turned towards him. Some Shaista starts taking Parveen’s name, but it turns out to be false, the women go inside. The flag march of about 25 vehicles is passing through the road, ranging from DM to DIG.
The media did not get entry inside the cemetery. In such a situation, the entire media remained standing at the gate.
Atiq-Ashraf have been buried till 9.30 pm. That’s when Azaan starts happening. Slowly people come out. We are also preparing to return. People are still standing here and there. Some people are going to give soil. Most of the police officers’ vehicles have gone. We also reach the car by walking about three km.
