Shaitaan Day 2 Box Office Collection: Ajay Devgn-R Madhavan’s Horror Film Sees Spike, Earns Rs 18 Crore

New Delhi: Shaitaan, the most recent film starring Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and R Madhavan, saw a spike in box office receipts on its second day, exceeding its earnings from the day of release. Early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk state that Shaitaan earned Rs 18.25 crore in India on Saturday, bringing its total domestic earnings to Rs 33 crore.

On Saturday, Shaitaan had a total occupancy rate of 33.65% in Hindi theatres. In the National Capital Region (NCR), the movie had the most screenings (1,232 shows) and the greatest occupancy percentage (34%). Maharashtra trailed closely behind with 1,115 shows and a 42% occupancy rate.

The movie made Rs 14.75 crore in its first weekend at the box office. Expectations are high for Sunday’s box office numbers after its outstanding performance on Saturday suggested a strong weekend.

Shaitaan, a Hindi film directed by Vikas Bahl, is an adaptation of the 2023 Gujarati horror film Vash, which was initially penned and helmed by Krishnadev Yagnik. The paranormal thriller explores the world of black magic.

It is expected that Shaitaan will continue to rule the box office until March 15, when Yodha, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Disha Patani, would give it fierce competition. The first day of Ajay Devgn’s last movie, Bholaa, which starred Tabu, brought in Rs 11 crore, and it eventually brought in Rs 90 crore. Ajay’s Drishyam 2 had great box office success prior to Bholaa. Shaitaan’s second-day box office earnings of Rs 21.59 crore were somewhat lower than those of Drishyam 2, despite the latter film matching its opening day totals.

ABP review of the film reads as, “When the trailer of ‘Shaitaan’ dropped, it created quite a stir, hinting at a potentially sensational film. What’s in store for us with Madhavan’s latest venture? How will Ajay save his family? While this film is a remake of the 2023 Gujarati film ‘Vash’, it might not have been widely seen by Hindi audiences, hence the excitement brewing since the trailer release. The first half of the film is remarkable, gripping you to your seat as Madhavan shakes things up. However, as the story progresses towards the end, things seem to falter.”
