  • Tripura Senior Citizens To Get ‘Vote From Home’ Option In Upcoming Polls

Vote-from-home facility will be available to senior citizens and differently abled in the upcoming assembly elections in Tripura. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state gave information about this on Wednesday. According to the CEO, only elders above 80 years of age will be able to vote from home. The state will go to polls on February 16 and the results will be out on March 2.

The Tripura CEO said that preparations are on to conduct fair and transparent elections in the state. Due to security, CRPF personnel have been deployed here. The jawans are carrying out flag marches and night patrolling to maintain peace in the state.

Agartala Police has tightened security in the city ahead of the assembly elections. Sadar Sub Division Police Officer AK Das told news agency ANI that a campaign has been launched against criminals and smugglers. We have set up 14 police nakas to prevent smuggling of illegal cash, weapons and drugs.

On the other hand, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has expressed confidence of winning more seats in the elections than last time. He said that our party has worked for the development of the people, our victory is certain.

Voting in the state on February 16
The Election Commission on Wednesday announced the dates for assembly elections in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland. Tripura will go to polls on February 16. Voting will be held in Meghalaya and Nagaland on February 27. The results of all the states will be announced on March 2. An interesting feature of these elections is that the majority mark in all the three states is 31.

Nominations in Tripura will start from January 21, which will continue till January 30. Here the candidates will be able to withdraw their names till February 2. On the other hand, in Meghalaya and Nagaland nominations will start from January 31 and the last date for nomination is February 7. The last date for withdrawal of nominations in Meghalaya-Nagaland is February 10.
