Satya Pal Malik: Meghalaya governor Satya Pal Malik hints at return to poll politics | Gurgaon News – Times of India

JIND: Meghalaya governor Satya Pal Malik has indicated that he may join active politics after completing his tenure after seven months. He was in Kandela village of Haryana’s yearning district to attend a programme organised by khaps.
Speaking on the UP polls, Malik alleged, “The mandate is yet to come but one thing is clear, BJP leaders couldn’t enter any village of western Uttar Pradesh. I visited Western part of UP and came to know that people are angry with the BJP. Even Union minister Smriti Irani had to run for several kilometres after farmers opposed her visit.
“Lok Sabha elections are expected to be held after two years, and here is a chance to form our own government instead of running after someone. Today, you are begging from these people but once you unite, these people will start begging. Now stop staging dharna and protest and focus on forming on your own government. ”
“My tenure is completing in the next six to seven months and thereafter, I will launch a campaign to unite people of north India. If people stay united, such situations can be avoided. Now the Centre has accepted only half the demands of farmers and many are still pending, including minimum support price (MSP) on crops. And people will have to come together to win this fight,” he told the gathering.
“I got an offer to be the President of India and other benefits as well if I remained silent on the farmer’s issues, but I chose to speak up. They tried to lure me from every way but failed,” he claimed.
Speaking of the January 26 incident, Malik said farmers did no wrong by hoisting ‘Nishan Sahib’ at a pole in front of the Red Fort. “The Sikh community has sacrificed a lot and Nishan Sahib is a symbol of their dignity. But they were blamed deliberately for splitting the protest. ”
“I pacified the matter when Rakesh Tikait cried on January 28 and his elder brother called a mahapanchayat next day in Muzaffarnagar to take a call. I spoke to Union minister Amit Shah to stop action on Rakesh Tikait,” he claimed. Protest outside venue While Satya Pal Malik was addressing farmers and khaps at Khel Ground of Kandela village, a group of people held a protest outside a prominent temple of the village. Satnam Singh, Pardeep Dhankar, Bijender Malik and some other protesters termed Satya Pal Malik BJP -sponsored leader.
