This took place as Delhi has been witnessing heavy rainfall for the last three consecutive days leading to severe waterlogging issues and traffic snarls. In a Tweet, the Delhi Traffic Police alerted commuters about the road collapse.

The traffic polive have already barricaded the affected portion of the road to prevent any mishap, reported PTI.

Meanwhile, earlier on Monday, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) ordered that all MCD schools, MCD-aided, and Recognised schools would remain closed for students on Tuesday in view of heavy rainfall.

A day off was also declared for students of classes Nursery to fifth in all government and government-aided schools under the Directorate of Education in Delhi, as per a release. These orders come after the Delhi government directed the closure of schools for Monday in view of incessant rainfall.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement in this regard came while weather projections said that the national capital will continue to see more downpour.

“In view of the heavy rainfall and the alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) regarding adverse weather conditions in Delhi, it has been decided that all MCD schools, MCD Aided, and Recognised schools will remain closed for students on 11.07.2023 for the well-being of our students in light of the inclement weather conditions,” the order read.

“Students must be informed, well in advance, about the closure of the schools on 11.07.2023 (Tuesday) so that they do not venture out. However, all HoSs and teachers shall come to schools as usual. All offices shall also be working,” it added.

Meanwhile, the Yamuna crossed the danger mark of 205.33 metres in Delhi on Monday as torrential rains pummelled the upper catchment areas of the river for the third day on the trot. The river breached the danger mark earlier than expected. It was predicted that it would cross the danger mark by Tuesday afternoon.
