Revellers Make Beeline For Herbal Colours, Traders Struggle To Cope With Demand | Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: Herbal colours manufactured by Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) have been a great hit among people as self-help group (SHG) members have been able to sell more than 10 tonnes of gulal within a fortnight.
Public relations officer of JSLPS, Vikash Kumarsaid: “Our SHG didis have been able to sell more than 10 tonnes of herbal colours made out of food items and flowers this year. It is very important as the whole process of manufacturing to supplying and sale was done within a fortnight.”
“SHG didis from Giridih, Hazaribag and Dhanbad had undergone training for manufacturing of herbal colours and they decided to produce it a fortnight ago. We helped them in distribution and sale. The response has been great as stocks have run dry and a few hundred packets which are left will be sold from our Palash mart in Hehal office.”
Meanwhile, people are busy doing last-minute shopping for the festival on Thursday.
Kamal Jain, a businessman from Upper Bazarsaid: “The demand for all items such as colours, water guns, artificial masks and hair has been good, but the supply this year has not been very encouraging as manufacturing started a little late because of the pandemic.”
Vishal Sharma, proprietor of Rajinder store in Rangrez galisaid: “Supply has been less than demand this year. Other than the pandemic, Chinese items have not been imported this year. This has also led to an increase in price of products.”
