Dhoni Farmhouse ‘unlocks’ For Public During Holi; Raj Bhavan Garden To Open From Mar 21 | Ranchi News – Times of India

RANCHI: Former Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s farmhouse has been opened for the public for the first time for Holi on Thursday. It will be open till Saturday.
Spread across 43 acres in Sambo village, the farmhouse boasts of integrated farming where horticulture, fishery, poultry and animal husbandry are taken up. Currently, different vegetables and fruits, including strawberry, peanut, cabbage, coriander and capsicum, are being grown there while watermelon and musk melon have been introduced recently.
On Friday, many flocked to the farmhouse where they bought strawberries at a relatively cheap price. The visitors also received tips on state-of-the-art farming.
Dhoni’s agriculture advisor Raushan Kumar said, “We are offering strawberries on a buy-one-get-one basis. A person purchasing a 250 gm packet at Rs 50 will get another packet free. The response of people on the first day was very encouraging.”
Kumar further said those interested in cultivation can get an idea about it apart from the storage and packaging of products.
He added that they use indigenous manure in farming and the emphasis is on avoiding pesticides and insecticides.
Sources said Dhoni is keen on farming and spends a substantial amount of his time inspecting the crops during his visits to Ranchi.
Meanwhile, the Raj Bhavanthe official residential campus of the governor, will open its garden for public viewing this year between March 21 and 27, an official statement said. People can visit between 10 am and 4 pm and the entry point will be through gate number 2.
The garden has an artificial octopus, a children’s park, an artificial mountain, a waterfall, pieces of wooden art and Sohrai paintings as its centres of attraction. It also has over 8,000 new rose plants and 500 varieties of fruits and a renovated fountain.
