holi: Public Holi Celebrations For Some Netas, A Private Affair For Others | Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: Netas in Jharkhand have cut loose from the Covid-19 restrictions as they gear up to celebrate Holi with gusto this year. On Thursday, Ranchi’s BJP MP Sanjay Seth hosted a Holi bash for the party workers, legislators, office bearers, and the residents at his home here. Attendees gave mask a miss and indulged in Holi fervour and delicacies as loudspeakers belted out popular Holi numbers to up the ante.
Seth will not be the only one to stage a gala Holi celebration this year. Holi celebrations are set to return in the sprawling government residence of Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda after a three-year hiatus. Munda will host a three-hour Holi celebration on Friday, his office said.
CP Singh, Ranchi’s six-time MLA, is also set to return to his ‘Kapda Faar’ Holi this year. “For two years, Holi was not celebrated due to Covid-19. But this time, with cases hitting a rock bottom after the passing of the third wave, he has decided to host Holi celebrations in a big way on Saturday,” a close associate of Singh told TOI.
Former chief minister Babulal Marandi will be celebrating a quiet Holi with family members and close associates at his ancestral village in Kopibak, 65 kilometers from Giridih. Former Union tourism minister Subodh Kant Sahaywho is also known to host grand Holi parties, will celebrate Holi with family members in Palamu.
Though battered by its humiliating defeats in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, the Congress party will host a low-key Holi celebration at its party headquarters here. “Like last year, celebrations will be low key,” party spokesperson Rakesh Sinha said. But its state leadership, including state president Rajesh Thakur and ministers in the state cabinet, will celebrate Holi at their respective hometowns.
