Former Congress minister Sangat Singh Giljian has got relief. The stay on his arrest has been extended for two weeks. The Punjab and Haryana High Court gave this order while hearing the case on Monday. In the last hearing, the High Court had stayed the arrest till July 25, seeking a status report of the case from the government. The High Court had given interim relief to the former minister on the same day. In the hearing held today i.e. on Monday, the government sought time to file a reply. After which the High Court has asked to reply in 2 weeks.

Vigilance registered a case
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a case in Mohali in connection with the forest scam during the Congress government. Former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has been arrested in this case. In this, Sangat Singh Giljian has also been nominated. As soon as the name of the case came to light, Giljian went underground. After which he filed a petition in the High Court.

nephew’s arrest
In this case, Vigilance had arrested former minister Gilzian’s nephew Daljit Gilzian from Chandigarh. Currently, Diljit Gilzian is on Vigilance remand. Vigilance claims that it was Daljit who looked after the entire work of minister uncle Sangat Giljian. From transfer-posting of officers to permits for felling of trees, he had direct interference in many types of work. However, Daljit has termed it as political vendetta.
