This time the railway wants to run the Vistadome tourist special train to Cooch Behar. Tourists are quite happy with this decision. Because the interest of tourists to travel to Duars in that luxury coach is increasing. Hence the demand for Vistadome coach tickets from NJP to Alipurduar on Duars route is also increasing constantly. The move is believed to bring more business and tourism into line.
How much does the railway want to expand? According to the railway sources, it is thought to expand the route of this train after seeing the crowd and interest of tourists from home and abroad. The Northeast Frontier Railway Authority has sent a proposal to the Railway Board to extend the Vistadome Tourist Special train from Alipurduar Junction to New Cooch Behar station. 840 per head in Vistadome Tourist Special reserved coaches. The fare per head in the unreserved general coach of that train is Tk 310.
What else is known? Now the Bhutan Gate has been opened at Jaigaon and Chamurchi. Many tourists are visiting Bhutan by road through Jaigaon. Hence, there is a growing interest among the tourists to travel through the forest, tea plantations, forest settlements and mountain trails of Duars in Vistadome Tourist Coach. Cooch Behar is the king’s city. There are various sightseeing places including Rajbari, Madanmohan Temple, Sagardighi. So if the rail proposal is implemented, tourists will be able to go to Cooch Behar through Vistadome coach doors.

In this regard, Acting Divisional Commercial Manager of Alipurduar Division of North-East Frontier Railway S Umesh said, ‘Vistadome Tourist Special train is now running from New Jalpaiguri to Alipurduar Junction. This tourist special train is seeing a lot of tourists. Lots of tickets are being sold every day. So we have sent a proposal to the Railway Board to run the Vistadome tourist train from Alipurduar Junction to New Cooch Behar. The infrastructure is also ready for that. The train will continue till New Cooch Behar only when the Railway Board gives the green signal
