The cabinet of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Punjab has approved the new excise policy 2022-23. After this, cheap liquor will be available in Punjab from Haryana. At the same time, the rates of beer will also be less than Chandigarh. At the same time, liquor will be available at the same level as Chandigarh. This policy will be applicable from 1st July 2022. At the same time, the license system of the previous Congress government has been abolished. Now the government will get its tender. However, this decision will exclude small contractors.

Liquor cheaper by 35 to 60% in Punjab, beer for Rs 120
After the new excise policy, liquor in Punjab will become cheaper by 35 to 60%. After opening the quota of liquor, the rates of English liquor and beer will be reduced from July 1. According to excise officials, liquor will be available in Punjab by 10 to 15% cheaper than in Haryana. The rate of beer in Punjab is currently Rs 180-200 per bottle. Which will fall from 120 to 130. The rate of beer in Chandigarh is 120 to 150 rupees. Similarly, the rate of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in Punjab is currently Rs 700. It will fall to Rs 400. Its rate in Chandigarh is Rs 510.

Alcohol groups from 750 to 177
The Mann government has reduced the groups of liquor in Punjab from 750 to 177. One group will now be of 30 crores. Earlier it was Rs 4 crore. They will have a tender auction. Earlier, licenses were issued through a draw. Distilleries, liquor distributors and contracts have been separated from each other. Earlier they were selling liquor themselves. The government has also lifted the ban on opening new distilleries in the state. The government has set a target of earning Rs 9647 crore as against 6158 crore last year.
