There was a lot of uproar in the Kerala Assembly on Wednesday. Assembly Speaker A.N. Shamshir rejected the opposition’s adjournment motion notice, following which United Democratic Front (UDF) MLAs started protesting outside the Speaker’s office. During the protest, the MLAs sat on a dharna outside the Speaker’s office. After which the marshals forcibly picked him up and took him out of the House.

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly V.D. Satishan told that four MLAs also suffered injuries during the clash. Among these MLAs, K.K. Rema, A.K.M. Ashraf, T.V. The names of Ibrahim and Sanish Kumar are included.

He alleged that senior MLA and former Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan was pushed, and MLA K.K. Rema’s hand was twisted and four-five female marshals dragged her to the floor.

What was the matter?
According to the news agency PTI, notice of adjournment motion was given by the opposition parties on Wednesday, which was rejected by Speaker Shamsheer. After this, the MLAs of the opposition started raising slogans and waving banners in the House. He then walked out of the House, and walked towards the Speaker’s office.

The path of these MLAs was blocked by the watch and ward staff, who are responsible for the security of the state assembly, and report directly to the speaker.

Earlier, a notice seeking a discussion on police action against Congress leaders protesting against the Kochi dumpyard fire was also rejected.

Allegations of MLAs- Speaker working under the pressure of CM
UDF MLAs accused the speaker of bias. The MLAs feel that they are working under the pressure of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Satishan said- The opposition in the House is being continuously deprived of its democratic rights. We had recently tried to raise the issue of atrocity on a minor girl through an adjournment motion, but the notice was rejected by the Speaker without giving any reason.

He also said that the Chief Minister is afraid of questions, and wants to end the current session quickly.
