Prime Minister Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Gujarat, inaugurated the Defense Expo-22 in Gandhinagar. Also laid the foundation stone of the new airbase of 52nd Wing of Air Force at Deesa in North Gujarat. During the inauguration, the Prime Minister said that this is the first such Defense Expo in the country in which only Indian companies are participating. Only Made in India defense equipment has been included.

During the 12th edition of Defense Expo-22, Modi said that the defense forces will release a list of 101 items whose imports will be banned. With these, items related to 411 defense can be purchased only at the local level.

Defense exports increased by 8 times
PM Modi also shared facts related to the export of defense sector and their increasing popularity. He said – Make in India concept is becoming the success story of Defense Zone. India’s defense exports have increased 8 times in the last 8 years. In 2021-2022, India’s defense export has been around Rs 13,000 crore and in the coming time we have set a target to reach it to Rs 40,000 crore.

The world’s expectations from India increased – PM
After the inauguration, PM Modi said that today from international security to global trade, maritime security has emerged as a global priority. In such a situation, the expectations of the world from India have increased. And India will continue to make every effort to meet these expectations. This Defense Expo is also a symbol of global trust towards India.

Benefits should not be limited to India: PM Modi
The PM said that in view of the future possibilities in space, India will have to increase this preparation further. Defense forces will have to make new innovations. India’s power in space should not be limited and its benefits should not be limited only to Indians, it is also our mission and vision.

Lessons learned from the Russo-Ukraine War
Deepak Shinde, independent director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, who came to the Defense Expo, said that we should not depend on other countries for our security needs because we saw in the Ukraine war how our dependence on Russia caused problems. Therefore, the emphasis has been laid on self-reliance in this expo.

Modi will stay in Gujarat for two days
This is PM Modi’s second visit to Gujarat in a month in view of the upcoming elections. PM Modi will give development projects worth Rs 15,670 crore to the people of Gujarat. After this, the PM will start the Mission Schools of Excellence in Adalaj. PM Modi will remain in Gujarat on October 20.
