PM Modi Expresses Gratitude To ‘Dima Hasao’ Voters After BJP Secures Majority

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed gratitude via an X (formerly Twitter) post to ‘Dima Hasao’ residents for reposing faith in the BJP Assam Pradesh. He highlighted the party’s dedication to meeting public expectations and acknowledged the efforts of party members.

“Gratitude to the people of Dima Hasao for their faith in Assam BJP. Our Party will always work to fulfil people’s aspirations. I also laud our Party Karyakartas for their hard work,” the prime minister said.

The BJP has maintained its control over Assam’s North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), securing 25 out of 30 seats in the governing body within Dima Hasao district. The vote count, initiated at 8 am, concluded late due to the use of ballot papers, news agency PTI reported citing officials on Friday.

“The counting of votes, which began at 8 am on Friday, ended late in the evening as the process was conducted using ballot papers,” the report said.

Of the 25 seats captured by the BJP, six were uncontested victories. Incumbent chief executive member of NCHAC, Debolal Garlosa, secured a win from the Dehangi constituency. Meanwhile, Independent candidates clinched three seats, as reported by PTI.

The NCHAC comprises 30 members, with 28 elected democratically and two nominated. The election for the 13th NCHAC took place on January 8, witnessing an impressive voter turnout of 85.78%. The polling transpired peacefully across 231 stations within 22 constituencies of Dima Hasao district.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi cleaned the premises of the Kalaram Temple in Maharashtra’s Nashik as part of the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’. The Prime Minister held a mega roadshow in Maharashtra’s Nashik ahead of the inauguration of the National Youth Festival this morning.
