Operation Durdant: Mumbai Police Reviews Salman Khan’s Security After Lawrence Bishnoi’s Threat

New Delhi: Taking cognizance of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s claims during his interview with ABP News, Mumbai police reviewed actor Salman Khan’s security on Wednesday. The security cover will be upgraded if required after the review. The actor currently has a Y+ security cover.

In a special show, ‘Operation Durdant’ of ABP News, Bishnoi warned of consequences if Salman does not apologise to the Bishnoi community before the temple of Jambeshwarji, the 15th-century patron saint of the community.

“There is anger in our society for Salman Khan. He humiliated my society. A case was filed against him but he did not apologise. If he does not tender an apology, be ready to face the consequences. I will not depend on anyone else,” Bishnoi said.

“There is anger in my mind for him since childhood. Will break his ego sooner or later. He should come to our deity’s temple and apologise. If our society forgives, then I will not say anything,” the gangster further said.

Lawrence belongs to the Bishnoi community, for whom blackbucks, a protected species under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, are sacred.

In 1998, Salman Khan hunted a blackbuck near the shooting location of his film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’. In a case filed by the Bishnoi community, he was sentenced to five years in jail by a Jodhpur court. However, he was granted bail.

Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had also confessed during his interrogation in connection with the assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala that he wanted to kill Salman Khan in 2018 over the blackbuck poaching case.

During the interrogation, it was also reportedly revealed that the Bishnoi gang had planned to kill Salman near his Panvel farmhouse and had carried out a recce of the place several times. The investigation also reportedly revealed that the shooters had ascertained that Salman Khan drives his car at a very low speed after the hit-and-run case. They also knew that Salman is accompanied by his bodyguard Shera during his visit to his farmhouse.

Lawrence Bishnoi, however, denied any role in the letter that threatened Salman Khan and his father and screenplay writer Salim Khan.

“The Mumbai Police interrogated me. I did not send the threatening letter,” he said.

An unsigned letter saying “tumhara Moose Wala kar denge (you will end up like Moose Wala)” allegedly addressed to Salman Khan and Salim Khan was found at Mumbai’s Bandra Bandstand promenade on June 5. The letter was spotted by Salim Khan’s guards where the veteran screenwriter usually sits after his morning walk.

Following the threat letter, Salman was provided with Y+ category security by the Mumbai police.
