nqas: Div Hospital Given Nqas Certification | Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: The government-run multi-speciality Motilal Nehru (Colvin) Divisional Hospital of Prayagraj has been given the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification by the Union ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW). The coveted certification has been given to the hospital in recognition of the high standards of quality and performance maintained by it.
Among other benefits, the achievement also makes the hospital eligible to receive better funding to further improve facilities and quality of services in the days to come. Established in 1867, the hospital was commonly known as Colvin Hospital, and now named MLN Divisional Hospital with effect from January 16, 1974. Having sanctioned bed strength of 156, the hospital has 199 functional beds. The 43 additional beds were sanctioned for Kumbh Mela-2019.
NQAS have been developed keeping in the specific requirements for public health facilities as well global best practices. NQAS are currently available for district hospitals, community and primary health centres. Standards are primarily meant for providers to assess their own quality for improvement through pre-defined standards and to bring up their facilities for certification.
The NQAS are broadly arranged under eight specific areas of concern which include service provision, patient rights, inputs, support services, clinical care, infection control, quality management and outcome.
Chief medical superintendent (CMS) of the hospital, Dr Indu Kannojia said, “The quality of services at the hospital have improved as per the set standards. The report of the NQAS team shows that the hospital met the standard of corrective action.”
