The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in 3 states in the Coimbatore car cylinder blast case. The probe agency has carried out these raids in connection with suspected ISIS supporters at more than 60 locations in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. In Karnataka alone, 45 locations were raided. It is being told that NIA had got information about some people related to IS. According to the information, these people were radicalized through videos.

Let us tell you that on October 23 last year, there was a blast in a car parked near the Sangameshwar temple in Coimbatore. The owner of the car, Jemisha Mubeen, was also killed in it. He was inside the car at the time of the blast. He was 29 years old and was an engineer by profession.

According to the probe agency, there were two LPG cylinders in Mubeen’s car at the time of the blast, one of which had exploded. Had the second one also exploded, the temple and many nearby houses would have been damaged.

So far 5 people have been arrested in the case
During the investigation, the police had also arrested 5 associates of Mubeen who were caught with the help of CCTV footage. All of them have been sent to police custody for 15 days under UAPA. The names of those arrested are Mohd Thalka, Mohd Asaruddin, Mohd Riaz, Firoz Ismail and Mohd Nawaz.

ISIS connection of Coimbatore blast
ISIS connections were found in the Coimbatore car blast. During the investigation, the NIA had told that 109 items have been recovered from the arrested accused. These also include notebooks related to Islamic ideology.

One of the arrested accused has admitted that he has met the accused of serial blasts in Sri Lanka on 21 April 2019, who were linked to ISIS. Same, the ideology of ISIS radicalized Mubeen. However, his training was not complete so he could not handle explosives.

The explosive used in making bombs was ordered online
Coimbatore Police Commissioner Balakrishnan said on Wednesday that the material recovered from the spot was used to make low-explosive bombs. During the investigation of Mubeen’s house, some empty Amazon boxes were found outside his house. After recovering 75 kg of explosives from the house, the police said that his intention was to make more bombs.

Potassium nitrate, charcoal, aluminum powder and sulfur were seized from Mubeen’s house. It is feared that it was used to make explosives.

Suspects were involved in blasting at 5 places in Coimbatore
According to the CCTV footage, three suspected IS affiliates Riyaz, Firoz and Nawaz were seen placing 2 cylinders and 3 drums in Mubeen’s car. They had placed explosives in the car at around 11.30 pm on Saturday night. The fourth suspect, Mohammad Thalka, had given the car to Mubeen and one of his relatives. All of them were residents of GM Nagar near Ukkadam in Coimbatore.

During the search, 75 kg of potassium nitrate, charcoal and aluminum powder were also recovered from Mubeen’s house. Apart from this, a piece of paper was found, in which the names of 5 places in Coimbatore, Police Commissionerate, Collectorate, Victoria Hall, Coimbatore Railway Station and Race Course were written.
