‘My Daughter Makes Rs 1.8 Lakh Everyday..’: Deepfake Video Featuring Tendulkar Goes Viral

Sachin Tendulkar, India’s cricket legend, is the latest victim of the deepfake technology. The ex-India batter warned his followers of a fake video in which he can be seen endorsing a mobile application. In the viral clip, Tendulkar claims that his daughter Sara uses the app to earn money everyday. Reacting to the video, Tendulkar highlighted the growing misuse of technology while requesting his followers on social media to report the video and the advertisement.

“These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers,” he wrote while sharing the video.

“Social Media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes,” the 50-year-old added.

Sara Tendulkar Calls For Social Media Platforms To Act Against Deepfakes

Earlier, Sara Tendulkar, the 26-year-old daughter of Sachin had also expressed her concern against her deepfakes while urging social media platforms to act against such accounts and videos.

“Social media is a wonderful space for all of us to share our joys, sorrows and daily activities. However, it is disconcerting to see the misuse of technology as it takes away from the truth and authenticity of the internet. I have come across some deepfake photos of me which are far from reality sic.),” she wrote in a post which now stands deleted.

“A few accounts on X (formerly Twitter) have obviously been created with an intent to impersonate me and mislead people. I do not have an account on X, and I hope X looks into such accounts and suspends them,” she added in that statement.

“Entertainment should never come at the expense of the truth. Let’s encourage communication that’s based on trust and reality,” Sara concluded.
