Following the theft of a watch valued at Rs. 4.5 lakh from the residence of the actor-turned-former director of the Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau Zonal, Sameer Wankhede, and his wife Kranti Redkar, the Mumbai Police opened an investigation.
When the actor reported the event to Mumbai’s Goregaon police station, the police opened an inquiry and registered a case.
“Omega constellation watch worth Rs 4,50,000 was stolen from the house of Kranti Redkar. The maid is missing after the incident, so the doubt is on her,” news agency ANI reported quoting a police statement.
Kranti Redkar had recently hired a woman from an agency to work at the residence.
The maid took advantage of the situation by stealing the jewellery and cash and leaving the area.
The authorities are currently questioning the agency where the maid worked and attempting to locate her.

The Delhi High Court on Friday denied Sameer Wankhede’s request for protection from search, seizure, or arrest on the grounds that an NCB official had reportedly “indicated the CBI” to excessive assets acquired by Wankhede.

Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani presided over a single-judge bench that noted there was no document on file submitted by Wankhede, an Indian Revenue Service official from the 2008 batch, which served as the foundation for the claim made before the High Court.

Sameer Wankhede, the former Narcotics Control Bureau zonal director who headed the operation that resulted in Aryan Khan’s arrest in the drugs-on-cruise case, was severely criticised for ‘shoddy work’ in the investigation.
