Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is set to roll out uniform tax for all commercial properties from April 1.
The announcement was made on Thursday by M S Shobha, who heads MCC’s standing committee for finance, tax and appeal.
She said that the practice of categorising commercial property as super commercial, commercial A and commercial B will be discontinued and a uniform property tax structure will be introduced.
She said that declassifying commercial tax into one category would help owners of choultries, cinema theatres, commercial complexes and lodges.
As there was opposition from traders and the business community on the earlier practice, the MCC had initiated this measure.
She criticised mayor Sunanda Palanethraaccusing her of not distributing Rs 25 crore in grants provided by the state government.
