Ludhiana: MC engineers association demands FIR against person who thrashed junior engineer | Ludhiana News – Times of India

LUDHIANA: A day after the Junior engineer in the operation and maintenance cell of MC was allegedly manhandled while he had gone to disconnect an illegal sewer connection in Tagore Nagarthe engineer association of the civic body threatened to go on strike if FIR will not be registered against the person who attacked the MC staff on Monday evening.
The mayor Balkar Sandhuhowever, on Tuesday assured the association members that strict action will be taken against the accused and he also talked to the commissioner of police for getting the FIR registered.
The association members handed over memorandum to the mayor Sandhu about their demands. In the memorandum they wrote about entire incident where JE Naresh Kumar was allegedly slapped by the owner of shop and his son. The MC officials claimed that in Tagore Nagar a shopkeeper had taken an illegal sewer connection and damaged new road.
When the matter came to notice the officials issued a notice to the property owner who replied that he had permission for road cutting. The receipt shown by owner was of February 2021 which is not valid enough as it is applicable only for three months. The owner damaged the road a couple of days back.”
JE Naresh Kumar had gone to take action against the owner but shopkeeper, his son and their aids gheraod the JE and his team. The officials alleged that MC team was attacked and when he reached the spot they had taken out a rod as well.
The mayor Balkar Sandhu said, “I have taken up the matter with CP and strict action will be taken against the person who raised hand on a government employee.” He said he has told employees not to be rude with public but when people do such things they have to take action,
Meanwhile, the patron of association Ashwani Sahota suggested the mayor that they should start FIR registration process at their level as they have DSP rank officer in MC so they can easily take up the matter with senior authorities. The mayor however claimed that he will think about it.
