J&K: Encounter Breaks Out Between Security Forces And Terrorists In Shopian’s Haripora Area

New Delhi: A gunbattle broke out between militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.

According to a police official, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Shopian’s Heripora village after receiving information about the presence of militants there, news agency PTI reported.

The search operation turned into an encounter, the official added.

On its Twitter handle, Kashmir police had earlier issued a correction pertaining to the location where the encounter broke out.

There are no reports of any casualties so far as the security operation in Shopian’s Heripora village is underway. More details about the same are awaited.
